One of my favorite parts of being a hairstylist is the moment a client sits down in my chair and says, "I want something that feels like *me* again." Whether that's a fresh set of bangs, a new layer structure, or a cut that finally gives their hair the movement it's been missing — there's nothing better than watching someone fall in love with their hair.
But here's the thing: a great haircut deserves a great at-home routine to match. You shouldn't have to wait until your next appointment for your hair to look good. So consider this your personal guide — straight from your stylist to your bathroom mirror — covering the three cuts that are having a major moment in 2026, what they do for you, and exactly how to style them at home with the right tools and products.
🦋 The Butterfly Haircut
The butterfly haircut is one of those cuts that genuinely transforms the way hair moves and feels.
Named for the wing-like shape the layers create when the hair flows, this cut is all about dramatic, face-framing layers that start high — usually around the crown — and cascade down in soft, sweeping sections throughout the length of the hair.

- Now, grab your Dyson Blow Dryer. If you've been on the fence about investing in one, the butterfly cut will make you a believer.
The Dyson's airflow is powerful but controlled, which means you can direct the air exactly where you need it without creating frizz or disturbing your sections.
Rough-dry your hair about 70-80% first — just enough to set the shape and remove the bulk of the moisture. - Then, section your hair and apply REF Stockholm Fiber Mousse to each section, roots to ends, as you do your round brush blowout. This structure mousse is incredibly thick so a little goes along way. It gives your hair the body it needs to hold that voluminous shape throughout the day. Think of it as the foundation for everything that comes next.
4. Use the Olivia Garden 1¾" Nano Thermic Round Brush to work through each layer. This brush size is genuinely the sweet spot for this style — large enough to create that smooth, voluminous curve in the layer, but not so big that you lose definition.
Roll the brush under each section and aim the dryer at the brush as you slowly pull it through, directing the layer outward and away from the face.

Curtain Bangs
What They Are and What They Do For You
Curtain bangs are the bang style that has genuinely earned their permanent place in the hair hall of fame.
